3rd Nephi 1

3rd Nephi 1:9

Now there was a day set apart by the unbelievers, that all those who believed in those traditions should be put to death except the sign should come to pass, which had been given by Samuel the prophet.

I don't think I have ever thought about this in a real apply-it-to-myself kind of way before. This is crazy. What if a group of people in America decided that they were going to set a date on which to kill all Christians unless the second coming happened. Isn't enough to just think you are right? Do you actually have to kill the person who you think is wrong? Maybe the only way to actually feel like you are right is to make the other argument go away entirely. But why do people have the tendency to be angry with people who do not agree with them? Is it because of pride? I think that might have something to do with it, Pride inherently causes us to separate ourselves from others because it causes us to compare ourselves to them and usually to see ourselves as better. This division nearly always leads to contention and anger. To remedy this first we should remember that all people are children of our heavenly father and so they our brothers and sisters. We are the same family and shouldn't see ourselves as opposing, though sometimes it is very difficult because we are not going to always agree with our brothers and sisters. When this happens we should remember the 11th Article of Faith.

Article of Faith 11

We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
